"My family had always been dirt poor. When I was thirteen my best friend started doing drugs. It was around that time that a person knocked on my door and invited me to an adventure group. Since my family couldn't afford to go rafting or rock climbing I decided to join. After just one month in LEAD my grades picked up and I actually went to school. If I hadn't found LEAD when I did I would be in jail right now, like my best friend."

"Before I joined LEAD I was to shy to ask questions in class. My grades were B's and C's. After I joined LEAD it was rare that I ever got another B because my report card always had straight A's. I would reward myself by going rafting or horseback riding."
